Description

This is my test block for Audrey. She asked for a monotone block with a low volume wonkey star. The actual block is done so Audrey can use either or both. The green has some batiks mixed in with cotton fabric.

This is gorgeous! I love all the blue fabrics and how the white star really stands out against them.

Caribousmom

Wow, this one is great! Love the fabrics you chose...just wonderful!

True

I would say you passed your "test" with flying colors...love your block awesome colors and fabrics!

Quilterinmotion

Love those blues!!!!!! Excellent.

HawkFan

Erica it's gorgeous! I see you're a V&Co fan. I love her fabrics but interestingly enough don't have a lot of her dark blues

Quilterinmotion True Caribousmom Sewhappy thank you so much ladies! I really like this color. I was worried about using the prints with other colors and my little birds but I really love them so I went with it.

Skynme

HawkFan so happy you like it. Yes I am a fan, but her fabric tends to be a little pricey, so I don't have as much as I would like. I took a pic of the star so you could see I used a low volume sketch in grey. It just looked white in the first pic.

Skynme I love her fabric and have found some great prices online by shopping around. Got the blue with the zinnias (or whatever) that you used for the back of my quilt for like $6 something a yard!!

HawkFan

I love the birds and I see you also used oval elements which is one of my favorite lines. Last fall a LQS went out of business and I stocked up on a lot of V&Co since the prices were so good.

LOVE the green block...and seeing them side by side shows what an awesome quilt this will be.

Caribousmom

Ooooh, the green block is great! That is one color that no one had really done yet. Good job!! :)

Terryt1955

Beautiful blocks!! I especially love the blue one because I love V&Co's fabric. And that low volume gray you used for the star is wonderful. What is it?

HawkFan

smile smile smile Wow - I love heart the green one too and the little bits of yellow-green will make such a nice transition from green to yellow. Sorry I didn't comment sooner - I've been sewing all day and just now checked in

Quilt455

these are both great. I too just love the blue one. Great fabric. Heading to my sewing room to get started on mine.

Skynme

Terryt1955 Thank you! I believe this was one of my sketch fabrics. I bought a half yard bundle of it in all different colors last year, and I have used them so many times. I actually used two of the sketch fabrics in the green block above
HawkFan Glad you like this block as well. Feel free to use whichever one works in your quilt
Carolmarie I am on a tight fabric budget right now, so I have been trying to use up my stash and not buy fabrics, but when I first joined the bee's last year I bought a lot of stash builder bundles which have really come in handy. They tend to have a great mix of colors and fabrics so you can build up your stash.
Quilt455 caribousmom True Thanks ladies! This was another fun block to do. So happy I get to experiment with all of these colors and blocks. I love these bee's and our pillows. It has been such a joy to sew with all of you wonderful talented women.

HawkFan LOL I just realized I did a birds and bees theme for your blocks...lol this was not intentional. I must be thinking about Spring or something.

HawkFan

Too funny Erica - I wouldn't have thought of that, mostly because the bees are a little more subtle. I think we're all hoping for spring to arrive soon. We just got another 5 inches of snow and now we're back down to zero. Bring on the birds and the bees!
