Description

7/3/14:
I have my centre ready to be shipped off across the word to be added to before returning to me later this year.

I based it on the Labyrinth pattern by Red Pepper Quilts and used Juggling Summer by Zen Chic. It's a charm pack, and I'll be including the rest of the charms to send along in case anyone wants to use them for some matching fabrics along the way!!

1/4/14:
I received +Charwirf's centre yesterday and I've started working on my addition. Here's a sneak peek!

11/4/14:
First border complete and is ready to be shipped off for the next border when I get around to going to the PO!!

I was drawn to the Italian flag on the bike and the words “Baci da Firenze” (Kisses from Florence). Kisses are represented by Xs so I decided to make X blocks. My first attempt of making a whole border full of Xs didn't work out so well (a little wonky) so I started again, and decided to do a "less is more" or "KISS" (Keep It Simple, Stupid) approach. The X block tutorial is from Pile O Fabric: http://pileofabric.com/2014/02/18/cross-stitch-block-tutorial-slice-insert-method/

When looking at the centre block, I felt like having the border run down the right side would look too heavy, so I decided to leave my border as only three sides. I sat on it for a couple of days to make sure I was happy with just the 3 borders, and I am. It's my creative liberty and +Charwifs sent along instructions to "try something different" and "be creative" :wink2:

9/5/14

Sneak peek for +Mymble! What will this jumble of fabric scraps create?!

10/5/14
Finished border 2 for Mymble! I cut some some of my border strips wrong and pieced them onto the wrong sides so I had to start getting creative with making it all fit in the end . Butterfly blocks were from the Red Pepper Quilts tutorial.

4/7/14:
Border 3 is complete for +cally68! I've been obsessed with Half Rectangle Triangles since I bought a bloc loc ruler and I thought they'd match the triangularity of the rest star points and chevrons. With all the print fabrics featured, I felt adding some solids would "balance it down"! I am in love with the coloured HRTs and I want to make a quilt out of them

HawkFan

Great idea to use a charm pack. That helps with fabric choices. Excited to see how this develops

Mymble

Love these fabrics- I chose them for my son's graduation quilt so I am partial:) Your center is great- lot's of colors to work off of- and the charm pack idea is super...looking forward to working on this!

Charwirfs

Wonderful colors. I actually have the circle prints. These colors and the simple shapes will be good to add to. Looking forward to receiving this one. I started my center yesterday.

Charwirfs

I've been waiting to hear that it arrived. Yea! What a clever idea to offer a sneak peek. It was a nice surprise to know the center arrived and to see a new addition in progress.

Mymble

Oh my- Charwirf is definitely going to be intrigued...can't wait to see the reveal!

Joke

Mymble Charwirfs I think I've finished my border, but I'm going to sit on it for a couple of days before I decide if I need to add anything else or not wink

Mymble

Joke Always a good idea- let it simmer on the back burner;)

Joke

+Charwirf I've got your centre ready to be shipped off for its next adventure :)

Mymble

Love your addition to Charwirf's block...fabulous!

Charwirfs

Perfecto! I really appreciate the thoughtfulness you put into this. I am delighted. Thank you. Just about ready to ship Mymble's block to you.

Joke

Mymble Thanks!! I thought the V and Co dots were perfect because it brings out so many of the colours in the block plus a few more to match for later additions!

Charwirfs I'm so glad you like it! I can't wait to add to what you do to Mymble 's blocks. It was fun studying your block and trying to pull an idea out of it.

HawkFan

I love reading your thought process on your addition to Char's center. Very clever and creative!

Aizome

Love your additions! Very mod!

Mymble

Ha Ha- something awesome I'm sure...so intriguing!

Mymble

Wow...you are amazing...I'd still be staring at the pile of fabric...those teensy weensy nine patches, and the butterflies...so great...the moth now has butterfly friends!!!!

Charwirfs

Brilliant! This piece is so colorful and fun. Whoever adds the next round will have to be careful that the WIP doesn't "fly away".

Joke

Mymble Since I have to wait so long for the postman to cross the seas I've been trying to think of ideas hen I see the pics so I have a rough idea of where to go (I actually knew I wanted to do the butterfly block on yours when you first posted your centre laughing )

+Charwirks I hope no one has a butterfly phobia lol! This was a really fun centre to work on! So many possibilities.

+Charwifs

Joke

Charwirfs I'll get it spelt right eventually laughing

HawkFan

I loved reading about your design process for Mymble 's center on your blog. Very creative!!

Joke

HawkFan yes "design process", that's the perfect way to describe "mistake fixing" LOL

HawkFan

It's all about how you spin it LOL

Charwirfs

Bright and brilliant! I'll be posting a pic soon of the next one crossing the seas so you can be thinking about what to add when it arrives. Hint: there is yellow.

cally68

Wow! I love it! I love how all the solids "settled" it. Great choice! Thank you!
