Description

I love the Sweet as Honey line and when I saw the bear paw variation I knew it was perfect for my bundle... but how to do it?

I pulled some extra fabrics from my stash and slowly got to work on the first block. I need to figure out the measurements for the "cheat" way of making flying geese and HST though. So much cutting; so many triangles! :astonished:

8/3/14:
Made a second block, trying out different ways to cut the pieces. Cutting was easier with less trimming but I need to figure out which way to press my seams to make it all neater!

9/3/14
Third block done! Seams are a little better but still need some work!

10/3/14
Changed my measurements in piecing the flying geese and they came out much neater which resulted in a much neater sized block!!

25/3/14
Still plodding along with these blocks! The more I make them, the more I love them!

3/4/14
I was so excited to be almost done with another block, and then whoops I sewed a bit upside down. I guess that means it's bed time!!

Beautiful what a great block and love the fabrics!

Skynme

This is one of my favorite lines right now, I want it really bad. I love this!!! What a great block for a gorgeous fabric!

Joke

Skynme True HawkFan Readerowl Aizome Thanks all! I'm trying to experiment with different cutting to make it easier to piece so I might end up posting an 'easier' piecing tutorial for this :)

Terryt1955

I have serious fabric stack envy! Can't wait to see more blocks in this line.

Joke

Terryt1955 Just finished and uploaded my second block!!

Skynme

Love the second block as much as the first. They are just gorgeous!!!

Joke

Skynme Carolmarie Thanks!! They're becoming really addictive to put together!

True

Loving your new additions!

Quilt455

Nice block and I think your seams a great.

Terryt1955

You are really cranking these out! They all look beautiful but I especially love the 3rd one. I think it's that great pop of dark gray that shows off the fabric. Keep up the great work!

Joke

True thanks!! I love that I'm not just using the one collection but have picked out some fabrics for my stash so I have lots of fabric to play with!!

Quilt455 I'm trying to figure out the seams on the back (which way to press) as there's some nesting etc and getting those right helps them meet up nicely on the front. I think I've almost got it worked out!

Terryt1955 I actually put that grey in the wrong spot! I'd wanted the bee fabric to be the geese and the grey to be the sky but I cut out my fabrics the wrong way!! I do love the darker contrast; I'm trying to add a few more darker fabrics into the mix with other blocks.

Skynme

These are so great! I really love the blocks together. The fabric is fantastic...I can tell your pics are going to make me break down and buy a bundle lol.

Joke

Skynme Just buy it already! wink

ArloDeanQuilts

Caribousmom

paige6187

These are beautiful! I can't wait to see how it all turns out!

Joke

paige6187 Caribousmom True ArloDeanQuilts Thanks!! I have at least 4 more blocks to make (there's 20 Sweet As Honey prints in the collection, and I'm using 2 of them per block) before going back through and starting again with different fabric choices! It's so fun!!

ArloDeanQuilts

Is there a pattern for this block?

Joke

ArloDeanQuilts There's a tutorial in the link on the side but I am working on rewriting my own because I found the original too fiddly with too many tiny pieces!

ArloDeanQuilts

I'm so blind, thank you! :)
