Description

I took a paper piecing class and we made this block. I just need to add a border and then I'll hand-quilt it and make it into a cushion cover.
Background fabric: crosshatch by Botanics
Geese fabric: Stitch Floral Circle

Change of plan for this hibernating project... I backed it, quilted it and am sending it off as an 'angel' mini for the rainbow mini swap. Hope the recipient likes it?!  eeek!

Really lovely, will make a fab cushion. Great fabric choices, and well done on the paper piecing!

I have this block on my to-do list and I love your version of it!

Terryt1955

One of my favorite paper piecing patterns. I love the fresh colors you chose and the background fabric is delicious!

sairzey

Thank you everyone!

For the back I think I would use some of the background fabric as well as some of the colors, if not all of them some how pieced together. For the binding...scrappy? or your favorite color from geese or a dark gray. Cannot wait to see what you decide as whatever it is it will be lovely.

HawkFan

You really can't go wrong with whatever you use for the binding and back - anything you've already used or a gray. Since it's going to be a cushion cover, you could pick whatever color(s) best match the rest of the room or what looks best as an accent color

Aizome

I would definitely a different fabric for the back and another one yet for the binding--every chance to use another fabric makes a quilt just that much more interesting, IMHO.

I saw a circle of geese pillow on this blog with a string quilt pillow here: http://adelaidelemonade.typepad.com/adelaide-lemonade/2009/12/christmas-gifts-and-baking.html
Maybe this will help inspire you? Perhaps a string pattern with the flying geese fabric for the back of the pillow and a solid gray binding that brings out the gray in the background fabric? Whatever you choose it will be gorgeous!

Caribousmom

I like the idea of giving it a "pop" of color on the binding - maybe one of the fabrics you used in the circle of geese? And if it were me, I'd definitely use another fabric on the back...I would probably do a pieced back with a string of flying geese in the fun colors from the front and then something else...

sairzey

Thank you all very much for your contributions, ideas and the links. On second thoughts, I might not bind it, but will take on board all your thoughts for the backing. Thanks again - you're all awesome! :)

Ibtreerock

I like the bit of orange on the binding! And the backing is great!
