Description

Starting a green quilt on Saint Patrick's Day seemed very appropriate !
Well, I'm stitching some green redwork blocks (9" each) first and then I'll see what I'm going to do for some other patched blocks in between...
Not only QAYG but DAYG too ! (DAYG = design as you go)

17/3/14 : first block is the turtle

18/3/14 : second block is the snail

19/3/14 : and block 3 is a hummingbird

21/3/14: next is a little rabbit

23/3/14: and a frog and some chicks

25/3/14: block 7 are butterflies

26/3/14: and the last block are ducks. Now to decide what the piecing around it will be like....

Decided on scrappy 'thick and thin log cabin' blocks in between the embroidered blocks.....

27/3/14: auditioning layouts....

Mrsquilt Me too ! These are not my drawings; these are freebies from a machine embroidery site (www.emblibrary.com), but I'm stitching them by hand...

Skynme

Love that little turtle what a cute little pattern, and you do beautiful stitch work.

Capetowngirl Charwirfs Aizome HawkFan Skynme Thank you all ! I do my handsewing in front of the tv usually and yesterday my son had a swimming lesson, so that was another hour of sewing... Today and tomorrow not so much handsewing I'm afraid. That's usually how it goes, with leaps and bounds....

True

Whichever layout you choose this will be beautiful...really love the combo of the log cabin and the embroidery.

Mrsquilt

Layout 4 for me :) (but I am biased toward brighter colors... )

Skynme

I love all the layouts but 2 and 3 are my favorites. This quilt is really beautiful, you did such an amazing job on it.
