Description

I was making a blue & white scrap quilt as leaders & enders project. I then heard that a childhood friend had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I decided to make this quilt for her, & start focusing on this quilt instead of just doing simple blocks with no real purpose. Within a few weekends, I was able to complete 16 blocks instead of just 5 blocks.

Working on the top now & deciding on the border. I have the one block for the back made, and am currently going to sew the top together and finish the borders.

Update: 3/21/14
I just finished the pieced backing on this quilt. This is turning into a fairly quick turnaround due to a week I had scheduled to be off of work. The more I get done now, the more likely it will get done & get to my friend.

I haven't decided how to quilt it, but I will be doing it on my domestic sewing machine. Nice lap quilt size. 48 inches on the top (unquilted size).

Update 4/22/14
The quilt was finished this morning and then label was printed and sewed on this afternoon. Took many pictures at the park and then again at another park. To view more of the pictures, go to my flickr account. The double park loves signify all the times we used to bike to Cottonmill Park out of town during the summers.  And that passes on more direct sunshine and more love.

It will be my first full true gifted quilt. Feels so good to complete it.

Love the yellow with the blues. Perfect name for the quilt

Using the various blues and yellows makes it so much more interesting. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Blue is my favorite color so of course this quilt calls to me. The yellow border give it a nice kick, great design choice. Love the pieced back. I bet this will pick up your friends spirits. I'm a 10 year survivor so remind her that this is just a bump along the road.

This is really beautiful and I am sure your friend will appreciate how special it is! Love how you quilted it - and also love those pops of yellow.
