This is going to look amazing!

HawkFan

Wow - beautiful, bright fabrics

Strandkorbtraum

Skynme HawkFan thanks both of you!
this project proved once more to me that I'm not really ment for paper piecing ...

HawkFan

What about a gray for the background? Or something else that's neutral. I'm afraid a green or red would take focus away from the beautiful star

Strandkorbtraum

HawkFan ohh I think I like your thinking ... I will hold gray to it - I think Iwould go more for somthing darker, but just be sure maybe a light neutral too...

Caribousmom

This is gorgeous! As far as background - I wouldn't use the green as I think it is going to take away from that gorgeous block...I would want the design to take center stage...so I would go with a lighter color that is not part of the block to add contrast and give the design a place to pop off from. Does that make sense? I like the idea of a light shade of gray, or if you wanted to use blue, go with a toned down shade of blue.

Caribousmom

I was going to also say - look at how wonderful the design pops off that white background in the photo! The contrast, I think, is the key here.

HawkFan

Caribousmom I was thinking the same thing about the white background and while I didn't say it, I thought a light gray or other light color would set it off the most

Caribousmom

HawkFan nodding we are thinking the same thing :)

Strandkorbtraum

hmm ok I will pull an off-white as well ...

Strandkorbtraum

Caribousmom HawkFan I would never have gone for a light background - but I like them - now I just need to decide on solid - or neutral in cremeish or greyish small print ...

Strandkorbtraum

HawkFan Caribousmom I am going to ask you two again ... I pulled neutrals and picked a few that work best ... I'm leaning towards the leaves or the creme solid ...

HawkFan

I think it's really a matter of your preference at this point. All would look good. I liked the solid creme or the one above it (with the circles) but it really is just a personal preference. You can't go wrong with any of them

True

Love this wow! Amazing work and so agree with comments on background. I like the creme solid as again I think it allows the block and other fabrics take center stage with no distractions. Lovely.

HawkFan

You have other fabrics in your stack - are you going to make more of these stars? If so, the solid might be the best choice since it will work with all the fabrics in your stack.

HawkFan True Thanks for the input!
Hawk - noope this will be a one of thing - it's for a swap - I would neer ever consider (at least at this point) to make a whole quilt out of paper pieced blocks ...

True - Thanks! your center stage argument sold me ... a solid would also work great with the center red+flowerprint as scrappy binding ...

HawkFan

Great - sounds like you've got it all worked out! What a lovely swap gift this will be

Sagebrush

I was looking at the photo, too, and I like the light colored fabric in the upper right of the photo best.

Emphill

I like the top right as well the circles play off the circles and dots in the other fabrics you used

Caribousmom

I'm late to the party ... BUT, I really love both of the low volume prints (the circle one is the one that initially drew me in). But, really, ANY of those choses will work.

True

Great finish!

Skynme

This turned out so amazing!

ArloDeanQuilts
