Birthday Pillowcase for A. S. by Siffstitch
Home & Decoration
My younger daughter really likes the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, especially when I click my tongue to make the "pop" sound for the line "One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and POP! out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar." She also likes to poke her finger through the holes the caterpillar leaves in the food he eats. Since her big sister started using a pillow around her first birthday (first a small one from my in-laws, but after the kitten started suckling on it--which he still does a year and a half later--I made her a Goodnight Moon pillowcase), I made this for Miss A's birthday.
The fabric is licensed to Andover Fabrics. I got the middle panel at
Gathering Fabric in Woodinville and my younger daughter picked out the
matching birthday candle fabric at Pacific Fabric in Bellevue.
folded the panel almost into thirds and seamed up the raw edges, then
edged the pillowcase with the birthday candle fabric. The middle part
between the picture of the leaf and the picture of the caterpillar is
open to insert a pillow.
