Blue Paisley Blouse by Kathie
I keep buying blouses and taking them back because I hate how they are made and the fabric is so thin!! I figured I could get a better quality of fabric and make it myself (though probably not too inexpensively) . . . unfortunately that means finishing it after it's all cut out.
This is a pattern by Simplicity #3786. I happen to find the material in the garment fabric section of Jo-Ann's about a year ago but am just now getting to it for this summer. I love pleats and though you probably can't see them in the picture, they are there. I also added some buttons just because. I used the cap sleeves and the standup collar version. There are also long and no sleeve versions. The back is slightly gathered in the center and there are two panels on the front which gives the blouse a little more shape when worn.
The fabric is light and a bit silky which made it a little more difficult to iron for pleats but it worked. I'm on my way to visit my girls for Mother's Day so I thought it would be fun to have something new to wear.
