This quilt is going to my cousin who is getting married in July. Their wedding theme and colors are Peacocks. I based my blocks off of the Garden Fence pattern by Hyacinth Quilt Designs. In her pattern the blocks finish at 10" and I wanted a 12" finished block so I resized the pattern to fit. The lattice will be white and I have a peacock feathered that I may use as a binding or border not sure on that yet.
05/25/14 Pieces cut.
05/27/14- 4 blocks down and 8 to go.
06/01/14 Top finished. Now I'm trying to figure out how to quilt the top, suggestions welcome! Also not sure what color thread to use, white, varigated? Decisions, decisions.
I just realized that I have not updated this, quilt got to the happy couple via my Grandma who went down for the wedding.
That fabric is gorgeous, she is going to love this!
Love these colors and fabrics and love the pattern you are using. Cannot wait to see more!
What beautiful fabrics!
Gorgeous colors! Right up my alley, Hurry up, I'm excited to see this evolve!
Love those colors together!!
This is absolutely stunning!!
Love your focus fabric and color selection - it would go perfectly in my house :-) Your cousin is going to love it!
Your quilt top is beautiful!
Oh wow!!! How big is it?
That is wonderful, Belinda. They will be very excited with it, I'm sure.
ArloDeanQuilts , you asked for suggestions on quilting. I think I would change colors with each block so the thread matched the color in the block and when quilting the white, I'd use white. That's just me, though, and there are many different ways to approach the quilting. Can't wait to see what you do!
This is really stunning. Love the colors!
It's better than I had imagined. Gorgeous all done up!! Now on to the quilting part...
If you are anything like me the back is what always makes me stall in the project. To piece it or not? What fabric to use? How to piece it? Do I have enough fabric to pull off the piecing? As you can see if throws me into a flux! The bloggers make it seem so easy, then again if I had Moda as my sponsor I'd be living easy too. Hope you're not as neurotic as me!
Wow...this is beautiful. Really love the colors. Very nice.
Terryt1955 , love your comment about the Moda backers. Just don't tag all us bloggers with that same brush. Many of us, me included, have no backers and thus have to come up with the $$$ to do every project we share. Hard to compete with those who are sponsored but I I prefer (for now anyway) to keep my blog "ad free".
I'd go veragated thread....it would pull it all together. But I live on the edge like that! This is simply a beautiful quilt and what a special gift! Kudos to you getting it done so quickly - I'm afraid it would have been an anniversary present if it were me doing it :)
I'm trying to catch up on all the projects I missed while traveling and I'm glad I saw this one - it's beautiful. I love the colors and what a wonderful gift.
Do tell us the address of your blog. Blogging is time-consuming but it is fun. Enjoy and share all your projects. Your readers will love it!
I bet they were thrilled it is so gorgeous!
Congrats on the finish - what a lovely gift for them
Nice! How did you quilt it?
I'd love to see pictures of the finished quilt. How did you do the back and what did you use for the binding? And of course, how did you quilt it? The fabric you used for the center is just stunning! And such a nice job on matching the inner squares to the centers.
Beautiful finish- boy you are on a roll with all the great projects!
How did I miss this one?!?? It is so beautiful!
Terryt1955 I just stitched in the ditch, could not decide how else to do this, and I apparently deleted the photos of the back, but it was just three of the dark blue squares in the center with the peacock fabric on the sides. I'm waiting for them to send me a picture with the quilt. Thank you Mymble and Caribousmom
